Jeff's Birthday

This year I made beehive cake for my Honey's birthday. My mama got me a beehive muffin tin from the Deseret Book store for my birthday and I LOVE IT! I made a lemon cake with honey lemon icing. Yum. But I think the batter was actually yummier than the cake. With no help from my boys my bowl looked like this after I poured the batter into the muffin tins, and there was quite a lot of cake batter left.
Yeah that's a redbox case up there for the Michael Jackson dance game we rented, I'll get to that later.
Aren't they cute!? I totally need to be called to beehives now JUST because I have this muffin tin. Can you imagine how cool New Beginnings would be? Oh the things I could do...
Well, I tried uploading a video I took of Ben doing Thriller from the Michael Jaxon dance game but it didn't work. Maybe it will work for FB so look for it there. Any who, it was a pretty stinkin' fun game if you don't mind being a geek... which I don't.

Then today we went to the Enchanted Forest for Jeff's birthday present. He said it was the best birthday present ever! It was the boy's first time going. Bennett was convinced we were at Disneyland when we pulled up. They've added so much fun stuff, but my favorite is still the water show. Ben liked it okay but was anxious to leave and see more things. They have this new ride which is called the Challenge of Mondor that we went on. It was pretty fun but dang, some of the stuff in there is pretty scary! I wouldn't recommend taking anyone under 4 on it (maybe even older). I had to cover Casey's eyes a couple times. It was fun because they gave you these laser guns and you shoot all the goblins and it keeps track of your score so you compete with everyone in your group. Jeff got Knight status and I got Knight in Training. I think he was secretly pretty pumped about it because when he got home he watched First Knight. Bennett's favorite was the old western town. The only thing we didn't do was the log ride and he refuse to go through the tepee tunnel into the Indian caves. Casey could have ridden the train the whole time. We were so exhausted by the time we were done, I was surprised we had only been there for 3 hours! Probably should have brought the stroller. All in all it was a pretty awesome day.

We lost Casey right as I snapped this picture so it's blurry because I'm telling Jeff "Where's Casey? I thought you had him!" and then running out of the Castle as it's taking the picture.  We found him right away by the way.

And came back to take another picture.

LOVE this house. Not so much the inside, like most things here- kinda creepy.

It's actually perfect that this is blurry because this is how it was, they were running all over trying to see every thing.

This one's for Baby Alice.  I love this place, I love Oregon! So green.

More green.

I just liked how the trees formed an arch way over the path.

If I were a dwarf...

Inside the dwarfs' mine

This would be an awesome place to go on Halloween night...if you were a teenager and like getting FREAKED OUT OF YOUR MIND! How creepy is this!? Kids didn't seem to mind though. I wonder if they are open on Halloween, I bet they'd make some big bucks.

She's eating my baby!

Still can't believe I let my baby go on this ride with out me.

He really did like this ride

Casey um...LOVED this ride. That's actually an understatement. We went on it twice.

Happy Birthday Pal!

My current obsession

Raising Cain, The Emotional Lives of Boys. Read it, just do it. It's only 258 pages long and it will change how you view and interact with boys. If you have a boy in your life, whether you're a parent, teacher, mentor or friend, you need to read this.
"...But as their manuscript progressed, Kindlon and Thompson realized a simple "how-to" would not do. "In the end," they write, "we found that the best advice we had to offer was simply to understand boys as they truly are rather than as they appear or as we wish them to be. Our deepest wish is to pull aside the curtain boys so tenaciously draw around themselves and offer you a look inside their hearts and minds. If we succeed, we hope that you will see more clearly the ways in which our culture conspires to limit and undermine their emotional lives. We hope you will understand boys better, and above all, we hope you will enjoy them more"
Read an interview with one of the authors, Dan Kindlon, PH.D. here.
